GamingDays:AFK is an all-weekend retreat of dedicated board and video gaming hosted at the Forrest Hills Resort in North Georgia. All meals, snacks, drinks, and activities are included with registration so that you can focus on the fun. Participants will stay in their own rooms in private lodges rented out solely by our group and have access day and night to dedicated spaces for board games and video games.  Each attendee will be assigned to houses that will compete for points with the winning house earning prizes.  Other activities include role-playing games, team trivia, and nightly karaoke.  Organizers will provide a healthy selection of board games, TVs, and gaming consoles. Attendees are encouraged to bring any games they would like to play as well.

 

Origin

The event grew out of what was basically an all-weekend sleepover called GamingDays that Courtney and Jayson would throw at their house years ago. Friends would come over Friday and bring TVs, computers, and games of all sorts and camp out for the weekend playing until they passed out and did it again the next day. On Sunday there would be a brunch. That's just how it always was. The tradition continued off and on through two different houses and many different friends until one year we got with Brian and decided to do something a bit more formal. 

Jayson's passions lay largely in board gaming. Courtney enjoys organizing events. Brian excels at preparing food for groups. We combined our efforts (and formed Sparkworld LLC to make our taxes look not-weird) to put on the first invite-only GamingDays:AFK in 2019 and had amazing support from a group of friends that paid money to come and experience a thing we had never done before. Since then we've hiked, hot-tubbed in the snow, crafted cocktails with witty names, delivered midnight pizzas to gamers who were still powering through lengthy campaigns, and had tons of other shared experiences that form this unique and amazing event we are proud to present to you yet again. 

So, bring your games and your friends, prepare to learn new games, and make new friends as we grow and game on!
